Established in 1896, Neighborhood House was the first settlement house in Kentucky. Neighborhood House serves children and families in Louisville’s west end. Neighborhood House provides family services, emergency food bank, and recreational and educational activities for youth in the west end.

Faith & Health Ministries’ purpose is to honor the faith heritage of our founding churches and serve people of all beliefs and build relationships with faith communities to promote the connection between faith, healing and wellness. Faith & Health Ministries offers health screenings, hospital and home visitation, prenatal and parenting education, and disease prevention and wellness education for all ages.

Prevention & Wellness team offers health screenings and education to help you stay healthy. The Norton Healthcare Mobile Prevention Center connects people to wellness, with health screenings at multiple locations every week in Louisville and the surrounding area, and serves women age 40 and over with or without health insurance. Screening mammograms and annual wellness exams often are covered by insurance. Funding may available for Kentucky and Southern Indiana residents who don’t have insurance.

The Louisville Free Public Library’s Western Branch is a public library in Louisville, Kentucky. It is a Carnegie library and is the first public library built for Africans staffed entirely by African Americans. In 1905 the Western Colored Library opened at 1125 West Chestnut Street, the first free public library in the nation for African Americans staffed entirely by African Americans. Western Library is a staple in the community. Western Library hosts listening sessions, and provides partners with a location to host events.
