Regina Carrico is a paramedic for St. Matthews Fire and EMS. She experienced firsthand the effect COVID-19 had on the hospital systems at the start of the pandemic. When the vaccine was developed, it was clear the impact it had on the population’s health:
“The [COVID-19] vaccine helped a lot with severity of illness. Anybody that I’ve talked to that had COVID pre-vaccine and post-vaccine, it was a lot easier to deal with.”
Regina is a champion for patient advocacy and understands the barriers people of color face in healthcare. She is committed to serving her community, alleviating fears and hesitancy, and ensuring those with medical needs are treated and cared for.
